about

In the year 2000, Kyoko released their third and what was to become, final album 'Unpure Disco' An underground quiet, flawed, slow-fi classic. Beautiful songs, plain and simple. The band had interest from a few indie labels, and they decided to let 'Pet Sounds Records' release the album as they were so knocked out by it. A top press agent was brought in and raved to them about how amazing this album was. Journalists were contacted, and almost each & every one of them claimed they loved the record but the editors of the papers they worked for wouldn't let them write about the band, because : "it wasn't what the public wanted" and "no one's really heard of them". The album managed at least two (that the band saw) reviews in National papers : ("Confessions of a lonely heart, lovely piano lines, creaky violins and sad mouth organs, twinkling stars and egg shakers - Sparklehorse by the seaside". - SleezeNation.), (" Listen to this on headphones in a darkened room, you will never be the same again, in a good way...Fantastic stuff!"). The band never found out how badly the album sold, but they always jokingly estimated about 18 copies! What else was there to do? ... Goodnight & thank you. Kyoko have left the building.
